GCSEPaper 2

Computational Thinking, Algorithms and Programming

Paper 2 • 80 marks • 1h 30m

Paper 2 is the programming half of OCR J277. It is a written exam lasting 1 hour 30 minutes, worth 80 marks, and it counts for 50% of the GCSE. You write code on paper, not on a computer.

It moves from thinking about a problem, through writing and testing the code that solves it, to the logic and the tools underneath. Algorithms and programming fundamentals carry most of the marks, and Boolean logic is the shortest topic on the course.

Answers can be written in OCR Exam Reference Language or in a high level language you know, such as Python. Pick one and stick to it, because switching halfway through a question costs marks.
