Programming fundamentals

3 subtopics

The core of programming for the exam. The three basic constructs are sequence, selection and iteration, and almost every program question is built from them.

You need the common data types, integer, real, Boolean, character and string, and how to use casting to move between them. On top of that sit the operators, string manipulation, file handling, records, SQL for retrieving data, arrays, and writing your own subprograms.

This topic rewards writing code rather than reading it. OCR marks answers written in Exam Reference Language or in a high level language you know, so pick one and get fluent.
